SRK adds Rs 1000 crore Prayag film city project to ‘brandwagon

Shah Rukh Khan— the name itself is a brand. And the King of Bollywood never stops adding new names to his endorsement list.

The owner and the brand ambassador of Kolkata IPLteam — Kolkata Knight riders, Khan is now adding another big project to his endorsement ‘brandwagon’. This time, with IPL season being in full swing, SRK is all set to endorse a 1000 crore project — Prayag Film City. This project will support Indian film industry as well as the tourism industry.

A report in Times of Indiaquoted Shah Rukh Khan saying ‘I belong to the industry and projects like this build its future; so I’m very happy to be the ambassador of Prayag Film City.’

Built on 2,700 acres, Prayag Film City at Chandrakona, West Midnapore, 165 kms from Kolkata in West Bengal, is a mega size integrated film city complex and a one-stop entertainment center.

Designed by famous art director Nitish Roy, it will be inaugurated on 15 April, 2012.

The Managing Director of Prayag group, Avik Bagchi said ” We are delighted to understand that this mega project comes up just at this juncture when the entire film industry looks up to better facilities, comfort and convenience in order to create and showcase more quality products worldwide.”

The Film City is also a representation of the humble approach and a demonstration of the state’s visionary ability to become a prominent destination as a tourism hub, he added.

Katrina Kaif and Shahrukh Khan are said to be bonding thick as thieves while shooting for Yash Chopra’s film in London.

Shahrukh Khan, whose wit and sense of humour never goes into hibernation, has been wisecracking on everything trivial to important on the sets of the yet untitled romantic film being shot in London. And Katrina Kaif, who was shootingEk Tha Tiger with Salman Khanbefore joining the shoot of Yash Chopra’s film, is said to be enjoying Shahrukh’s wit, every bit.

Moreover, Katrina Kaif is highly impressed by Shahrukh’s chivalry and decorum while shooting with her. According to a source, Shahrukh treats Katrina like a lady and is highly courteous to her. But that doesn’t mean he’s formal to her. In fact, SRK and Kat are on casual terms and are often spotted sharing a laugh.

In a latest image that has appeared on the web, Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif are seen enjoying food on the sets of the film in London.

Though Katrina and Shahrukh have been on friendly terms for a long while now, the chemistry between them was for all to see when Shahrukh Khan planted a kiss on Katrina’s cheek while performing at an award function.

Recently, Shahrukh hinted about a romantic scene in the Yash Chopra film, apparently with Katrina Kaif.

“On a lighter note realized u can't wear warmers if u want to do romantic scenes...they come in the way of ur coolness...or is it just me???” Shahrukh Khan tweeted a few days back.

The London schedule of the Yash Chopra movie is for about 35 days, which means ample time for SRK and Katrina to spend together.

It's birthday time for SRK, who seems to have just scraped home with his magnum opus "RA.One", even if most critics and the janta panned the film.

Numbers don't lie, and the five-day Diwali week's Box Office collections in India and abroad were quite good, a saving grace for SRK's team. But many questions were raised, what with him being compared to arch rival Salman Khan, who is apparently towering over SRKafter back-to-back blockbusters "Dabangg" and "Bodyguard". So is the badshahgiri really over? Or is the King here to stay?

On January 30 this year, in a piece in DT, I had already talked about SRK, saying, "He is in his 46th year and 46 is 1, Sun, compatible with his numbers, and should do better (than the past couple of years which were a debacle) even if "RA.One" doesn't set the Box Office ablaze." Here are my predictions on his birthday today:
SRK (2/11/1965) is ruled by the dreamy Moon (No 2), on which so many romantic songs have been picturized by Bollywood. The Moon, which lends gifts of imagination, also influences some of the greatest superstars. 'Shah Rukh Khan' by default adds up to a dream number, 42 (our office address is 402), and 42 is 6, which denotes Venus, the planet of love, luxury and entertainment. The world's greatest entertainers, Walt Disney and Warner Brothers, add up to the same number. So do world famous tourist destinations such as Paris, France, Hawaii,Shanghai and Thailand. China, one of the fastest growing countries in the world that has been flooding markets with its goods, also adds up to 6.

So for those who feel SRK is dealing with a mid-life crisis, there's bad news. The badshah is about to enter a very exciting phase as he is a number 2 (2/11/1965), set to enter his 47th year and 4+7=11=2 again. The principal date of birth is the most important number, which denotes our ruling planet. For instance, if you were born on the 1st, 10th, 19th or 28th, you are a # 1, (Sun) so all years adding up to 1 shall be quite eventful, in most cases in a good way. A No 2, Boney Kapoor (11/11/1953) made "Wanted" in his 56th year, helping him get rid of a lot of debts. Shahrukh Khan is an international superstar born on 2nd November 1965 to Mir Taj Muhammad Khan and Lateef Fatima in New Delhi, India. His mother believed her son was destined to be a great actor often citing resemblance between Khan and Dilip Kumar , another Bollywood legend. His name literally translated into 'Face of the King'. Born and brought up in Delhi, he was brilliant student and an all rounder. At St. Columba's School he won the prestigious 'Sword of Honour'. He was also the captain of his football, hockey and cricket teams. After sustaining a football injury, he decided started to consider acting as a career. He graduated with honors in Economics from Hansraj College and did his masters in mass communications from Jamiya Miliya Islamia. Khan then went on to study theatre under the reputed Mr. Barry John whom he credits for carving out the actor inside him but his mentor considers his pupil as being solely responsible for his greatness and glory citing Shahrukh to have the perfect combination of 'talent, perseverance, belief in yourself, a never-give-up-attitude and of course, a bit of luck'; factors needed for success. The King began his journey by landing the lead role of a commando in 1988 drama series 'Fauji'. Khan was born in 1965 to Muslim^[13] parents of Pathan descent in New Delhi, India.^[14] His father, Taj Mohammed Khan, was an Indian independence activist from Peshawar, British India. According to Khan, his paternal grandfather was originally from Afghanistan.^[15] His mother, Lateef Fatima, was the adopted daughter of Major General Shah Nawaz Khan of theJanjua Rajput clan, who served as a General in the Indian National Army of Subash Chandra Bose.^[16] Khan's father came to New Delhi from Qissa Khawani Bazaar in Peshawar before the partition of India,^[17] while his mother's family came from Rawalpindi, British India.^[18] Khan has an elder sister named Shehnaz.^[19] He was given the birth name Shahrukh (meaning "Face of the King"), but prefers his name to be written as Shah Rukh Khan, and is also commonly referred to as SRK.^[20]

Growing up in Rajendra Nagar neighbourhood,^[21] Khan attended St. Columba's School where he was accomplished in sports, drama, and academics. He won the Sword of Honour, an annual award given to the student who best represents the spirit of the school. Khan later attended the Hansraj College (1985—1988) and earned his Bachelors degree in Economics (honors). Though he pursued a Masters Degree inMass Communications at Jamia Millia Islamia, he later opted out to make his career in Bollywood.^[22]

After the death of his parents, Khan moved to Mumbai in 1991.^[23] In that same year, before any of his films were released, he married Gauri Chibber, a Hindu, in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on 25 October 1991.^[24] They have two children, son Aryan (b. 1997) and daughter Suhana (b. 2000). According to Khan, while he strongly believes in Allah, he also values his wife's religion. Featuring his 2004 Temptations concert tour, the film contrasted Khan's inner world of family and daily life with the outer world of his work. The book Still Reading Khan, which details his family life, was released in 2006. Another book by Anupama Chopra, King of Bollywood: Shahrukh Khan and the seductive world of Indian cinema, was released in 2007.
